Acne Overview

Acne, also known as zits or pimples,  is a skin condition that occurs when your pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria which leads to inflammation. The increased hormones produced during puberty increase oil production and feed the process. Acne is a common condition, especially in teenagers, but can also affect middle-aged adults and babies. Approximately 80% of teenagers will be affected by acne and it can have a big impact on self image and confidence.

Acne Skincare

  • Use a gentle cleanser and wash your face and acne prone skin twice daily. Do NOT scrub your skin.

  • Be patient! There are not any products or medications that will work in a couple days or weeks. You must use your medications consistently for 2-3 months to see effects.

  • Do NOT spot treat! Instead, spread a thin layer of the acne medication evenly over your acne-prone skin to help prevent pimples from appearing.

  • Make sure your skin products and makeup are non-comedogenic (acne-forming). Do NOT sleep in your makeup.

  • Do NOT pop or squeeze your pimples!
