Christin (Christy) Hurt, MD

Dr. Christin (Christy) Hurt is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in the full range of dermatology including medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.  Raised in Alabama, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  She received a scholarship to medical school and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine, graduating at the top of her class.  During medical school, she received the distinct honor of being selected to Alpha Omega Alpha, a premier medical honor society, as well as the Gold Humanism Honor Society.  Dr. Hurt completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Tulane School of Medicine and her residency in Dermatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.  During her last year of residency, Dr. Hurt was selected to be chief resident.  She holds memberships in the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women's Dermatologic Society, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons.

 

Dr. Hurt has been in private practice since 2011.  She spent a year working with world-renowned cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Mary Lupo, at the Lupo Center for General and Aesthetic Dermatology in New Orleans, Louisiana.  During that year, she received extensive training in cosmetic dermatology, including Botox injection, filler (Juvederm and others) injections, laser skin treatments, and chemical peels.  Dr. Hurt enjoys using her expertise to allow patients to look their best through the latest techniques in skin rejuvenation.

 

Dr. Christin Hurt has participated in and published research involving adult acne.  She has given talks regarding skin cancer and methods of detecting skin cancer.  Her dermatologic interests are broad and include common skin conditions like eczema, acne, and psoriasis as well as skin cancer, including melanoma.  She treats everyone, from infants to senior adults, and is available to perform full skin exams or mole checks as well as treating skin conditions.

 

 Dr. Hurt is excited to be starting her practice and putting down roots in Starkville, MS.  Dr. Jim Hurt is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine and practicing at Columbus Orthopedics.  They are blessed with four children - James, Luke, Mary Harper, and Abigail.
